Over the last three years we have been working with an increasing number of teenagers and young people and it is, in part, this journey of NETwork that has led me to where I am today. We are often called by parents and schools who would like our help to, “help their child be all they can be”. When I dig a little deeper and ask what they believe this is, most parents and schools tell me that they would like to see their child:
- Talk more to their family
- Have more friends
- Do better at school
- Perform better
Of course, not every parent wants this who calls us.
A significant number of parents and schools who call us have children, teens and adults who engage in very troubling behaviour, have no language (or very limited language) and extremely limited interests.
