We know that specific, measureable, achievable goals that are meaningful to you make them more likely to happen.
In considering the goals you want to set, either for yourself, or for your family as a whole, consider the following acronym;
Rather than saying, my goal is to be happy, pick something that you know makes you happy. For example, doing a family activity.
How will you measure if you are achieving your goal? You might aim to do one family activity a week, on a Sunday, because that’s when you all have the most free time.
Is this possible for your family? Can you all achieve it? You want to set yourself up for success. If you are failing at your goal, rather than being upset with yourself, renegotiate the goal. Set it a little bit easier so you can succeed and then increase the goal as and when you can.
Is this realistic? Do you have the time once a week? Can you maintain this? Again, this is about being successful! Set goals that are within your ability to achieve and then slowly increase overtime.
