After a long summer holiday, organisation and planning might have gone out of the window, and getting kids out of bed in the morning might become a real struggle. Why not set yourselves up well for the year ahead and get a plan together for the morning routine.
1. Make it a game. Make a family star chart and give out stars for the person who gets ready the soonest in the morning. Then at the end of the week, the winner gets a reward.
2. Offer incentives for getting out of bed, eg, child’s favourite song comes on when their alarm clocks goes off, helping them to wake up happy.
3. For children who may struggle with the task of getting up and dressed, try writing down their To Do schedule for them, stick it on their wall and have them follow it each morning, so they can get into a pattern and routine of what they need to do.
