We have discussed this month challenging behaviour in children. Sometimes challenging behaviour is simply children being challenging and other times it can be symptomatic of a greater underlying issue your child may be facing.
Indicators of atypical development
- a child is unable/unwilling to ask for what they want or need
- a child has a limited repertoire of things they will request for
- a child appears disinterested/unmotivated by toys/activities
- a child in uninterested in the attention of others towards them, particularly from caregivers
These statements are just a few indicators that a child may have a developmental delay. If you recognise any of these signs in your child or there are other signs you have noticed that bring you concern, feel free to get in contact to chat further about your worries.
Setting your child up for success is knowing them as well as possible and getting access to support when you think they might need it. It is never ever too early to seek information and support if you think your child might be showing signs of a developmental delay.
