Half term is coming up and with it the joys of entertaining the children in one of the worst months for weather of the year! This month we’ll spend some time exploring the world of entertaining children and adolescents, from play time and why it’s important and innumerable ways you can keep your children entertained this half term.
With the children under your feet and in the house the whole time, this can put stress on your normal routine and any hope of keeping the house in relative order. The best way to manage half term is to have a loose schedule that you follow.
Put in the times that some things have to be done, and allow lots of room for the obvious chaos that may ensue from having little ones around all the time.
Example: Relieve yourself of feeling like the house should be tidy at all times and schedule in a set time at the beginning and end of the day to do some tidying, and accept that for the rest of the day, things will be a little messier than normal!!
Rope in the children to do some of the lighter tasks to increase their sense of responsibility and take the weight off your shoulders.
Another advantage to having a schedule put up is that children can use it to know what they are doing when which can help to contain their excitement about having days ahead of them full of play!
