Whilst so far this month our blogs have focused on happiness as an elusive entity, that’s not to say we can’t be happy, and that we can’t choose happiness!!
When we take positive, loving actions towards ourselves and others, we can create for ourselves a more uplifting environment which is beneficial not only to ourselves but also for others.
Here are a few thoughts on what can help fuel a happier lifestyle;
- Find out what you love or want and pursue that
- did you always want to paint, or dance or play the piano? Or do you dream of travelling the world? Make a plan to do it.
- Or are you hoping to get married and feel like the only single person left on the planet? Make a plan to do something about it, increase your social calendar, join a dating website…
- Are you a parent struggling to manage a family who you feel are out of control? Sit down, make a plan for what you want your family to be about, and then get support to get you all there. Did you know this is something that we specialize in? We would love to help you and your family make your goals and vision and support you to reach them as individuals and a team.
Do things for others (Random Acts of Kindness)
Doing nice things for others strengthens our connection with them, and builds people up. Even small acts like giving up a seat on the tube for someone looking tired, or stopping to have a chat with a neighbour and offering them a compliment can make a huge difference to someone’s day.
Learn to be thankful rather than to grumble
Learn to be thankful; set yourself a challenge for the end of everyday to think of 3 things you are thankful for today. This sets your mind on what is good in your life rather than all the bad and all the challenges.
Take a step back to enjoy a moment
Rather than rushing through every moment of everyday without giving yourself time to think, every now and then, just stop. Enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the world go past, step away from the ‘to do’ lists running through your mind and take in what’s happening around you, go for a walk when the sun’s shining, take a long bath. Give yourself a ‘time out’ from the world for 10 minutes a day just to sit and be still.
